When you paste content from a Microsoft Word document into a web page, you may find the formatting looks odd or is lost. This is because Word presents content in many ways (such as tabs) that are not recognised in HTML – the language used to write most web pages, including Joomla! and WordPress.

Copy the text from Word and paste in to a text document like Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (Mac). This strips out formatting and presents you with basic unformatted text. You may need to arrange line breaks and spacing before pasting this in to the web page.

If you want to quickly clear all of the formatting from highlighted text, you can do so by clicking the Clear All Formatting button in the Word ribbon bar. Link
